Position Summary

The Sr. Manager / Manager, Project Management is a critical leadership role responsible for establishing and leading the Project Management function at AbTherx. This individual, reporting to the CEO, will provide strategic and operational leadership to ensure the successful planning and execution of our research programs and licensing agreements.

The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader who can translate research and licensing strategies into integrated, actionable project plans and agreements. They will be responsible for implementing best-in-class project management methodologies, fostering a culture of accountability, and providing clear visibility on program progress, risks, and resource needs to the research, business, and finance teams.

Key Responsibilities

Project Execution and Oversight

  • Manage and report timelines, resources, communication, and budget for all research programs, including internal antibody discovery, partnered antibody discovery, generation of new transgenic mouse models, other technology development, and mouse orders
  • Manage and report timelines, resources, communication, and budget for all agreements, including licenses, NDAs, MSAs, MTAs, and SOWs
  • Support research and business organizations to develop research program proposals, agreements, and project updates
  • Identify potential project risks, develop mitigation strategies, and proactively monitor issues to ensure timely resolution
  • Consult with research, finance, and business organizations to ensure all research programs and agreements are managed efficiently

Communication and Reporting

  • Manage internal and external meeting scheduling, preparation, and post-meeting activities while consulting appropriate stakeholders, including meeting administration, dissemination of minutes/actions from meetings, and necessary follow-up
  • Build and maintain Gantt charts, and monitor project progress against the plan, identifying deviations and providing regular updates to external and internal stakeholders through clear and concise reports
  • Develop and maintain high-level program dashboards and reports, clearly communicating progress, key performance indicators (KPIs), risks, and issues

PMO Development and Management

  • Develop and implement strategies around efficient project and agreement management across the organization
  • Implement and manage project management software and tools to ensure efficient tracking and reporting
  • Develop and document key activities the business wants to monitor closely (e.g., license agreement tracker, mouse supply and shipping tracker, project costing and resource tracker)

Qualification Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher, preferably in Life Sciences
  • >7 years of experience in project management in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry, preferably with experience in alliance management
  • A strong understanding of protein engineering principles, antibody discovery, and molecular biology is desirable
  • Experience in resource expenditure tracking and management
  • Proficiency with project management processes, tools, and methodology to manage project timelines and resources
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with internal and external partners
  • Ability to summarize complex information into simple concepts for broad communication to project and management teams
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and Smartsheet
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Training or Certification is a plus
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement (Lean or Six Sigma), including performance management, visual performance boards, and problem-solving techniques, is desirable
